Born and raised in Massachusetts, Erik moved to Omaha while in the Air Force. And it was through a faithful co-worker that God brought the gospel to him. Pastoral ministry became the clear priority for Erik after graduating from Grace University in 2002. He served as a pastoral-intern and later as an Assistant Pastor at Omaha Bible Church from 2002-2010 before leading the church planting efforts for Emmaus. Along with other like minded area pastors, Erik began The Omaha Gospel Network which later became The Omaha Chapter of The Gospel Coalition. This network strives to promote gospel-centered ministry in the region. Erik regularly contributes to several publications including Ligonier, Tabletalk, 9Marks, & For the Church. His blog, Ordinary Pastor, is hosted by The Gospel Coalition and features regular articles and book reviews. He is the author of Gospel-Shaped Outreach to help churches to create a disciple-making culture and Chasing Contentment: Trusting God in a Discontented Age, and Is Hell for Real?
Erik enjoys spending time with his best friend and wife Christie, as well as their 6 children; Bryce, Luke, Alaynah, Alexis, Zoë, and Bo. Some hobbies include reading, writing, fitness and being active in his neighborhood association. You will often find Erik cruising around Mid-Town and South Omaha in a bicycle lane.
